Dental Insurance from Delta Dental

Delta Dental helps you keep your smile healthy with coverage for preventive care, basic, and major dental services. You’ll have access to one of the nation’s largest dental networks, helping you save on out-of-pocket costs when you visit in-network providers.

PTMA offers two dental insurance plans from Delta Dental. With the Low Plan, you will pay less in premiums. But you will likely pay more when you need care, and your annual benefit maximum will be lower. On the High Plan, you will have a higher payroll deduction, but you will likely pay less out-of-pocket when you use dental services, and your benefit maximum will be higher. The High Plan also includes orthodontic benefits.

Plan Summaries

The summaries below outline key details about each plan, including coverage levels, benefits, and covered services.

Provider Networks

Delta Dental PPO Network

The lowest-cost option for care, dentists in the Delta Dental PPO network agree to accept reduced fees for covered services—meaning you’ll pay less out of pocket. You’ll also have no balance billing, so your dentist can’t charge more than the contracted rate.

Delta Dental Premier Network

A larger network that includes more dentists than the PPO network. Premier dentists also offer discounted rates—just not as low as PPO providers—so your costs may be slightly higher. If your preferred dentist isn’t in the PPO network, they may still participate in the Premier network, which helps limit your expenses compared to going completely out of network.

Out-of-Network Providers

You can see any licensed dentist, but if they aren’t part of either network, you’ll likely pay more for services. Out-of-network providers may bill you the difference between what Delta Dental covers and their full charges, referred to as balance billing.
